Just the Beginning

Well, the first three days of school were amazing! I have already learned a lot about the crew that I will be spending my days with. We had a lot of fun getting to know each other. It always amazes me how quickly children pick up routines. Over the summer I have been thinking about the concept of literacy and how that concept has changed as technology has evolved. It is no longer enough to teach students how to read books and write on paper. This won’t adequately prepare them for their 21st century lives.
Our students need to become transliterate and develop the ability to read, write and interact across a range of platforms, both traditional and digital. This brings me to one of our goals for this year: "Blogging". I cant wait to see and hear what the class thinks...

Introducing the Blog

Today was our first Computer class and I was so glad to get the opportunity to show the class our blog. This is what some of the crew had to say;

"Today in school our teacher introduced us to our classroom blog which I never knew about! I think that it's AWESOME and super cool!" Tyson
"We had our first computer class and I am thankful we came to computer or else I would not have discovered this!" Gabby
"Today we had our first computer class and learned about our blog" :) Kayne
"At school Ms. McAuley told us we were going to have a classroom blog. That is good. It is awesome! I am happy to have a classroom blog." Thomas
" I love being in Ms McAuley's class! We have so many cool items in our classroom. I think our class will have a lot of fun blogging! Today we had our first computer class and found out about our blog. Everybody was so excited!" Hannah
I think Abby summed it all up when she said, "I really enjoy being in this class and I feel safe."
