Farewell to The First 7 Months of Grade 5

This will be our last blog entry for grade 5 with Ms. McAuley. I had a lot of fun posting on the classroom blog because is was a new experience writing a blog. - Kayne

It was also fun writing a blog because we got to share all the fun stuff we did in our classroom with people who visited our blog. - Abhinav

I can't believe 7 months went by so fast! We had so much fun in our class because of all the fun things we did like the bake sales, the monthly auctions that taught us about how to deal with money, craft sales and fields trip to Oak Hammock Marsh, Winnipeg Harvest and The Manitoba Museum. - Kathleen, Salvo, Gabby

Ms. McAuley made this the best 7 months of school! - Kathleen & Dennis

It was the best year in our classroom with all of my classmates and Ms. McAuley! - April

Tania Gauthier from the Children's Hospital came and visited our class and showed us a video of a patient. This showed us that our donations really can help to make a difference. - Dhemir, Gabby, Kathleen & Devon

Another one of our guests were Toby Enstrom and Keaton Ellerby from the Winnipeg Jets. They came and read to our class for I Love to Read Month. - Tyson

Mrs. O'Neil, a dental assistant came and visited us to talk to us about teeth and keeping our mouths clean and healthy. - David & Matthew

We got a letter from Toronto, ON inviting us to compete in the "Great Canadian Mail Race." We accepted the challenge and each of us picked a different school across Canada to invite them to enter the race with us. We ended up getting 5 responses from different students across Canada. - Devon, Jocelyn, Kathleen, Salvo & Dennis

Even though I've been here a short time I am not getting bullied here and I was getting bullied at my last school. - Jaylyn

We made tipis in Social Studies and learnt about how Aboriginal people lived. We learnt about the meanings behind each tipi pole and created meanings for each of the poles in the tipis we made. - Nicolas, Dennis, Abhinav & S

On many occasions we had visits from Ms. Lisa, the Aboriginal Community Connector. Earlier in the year she helped us reflect on what we learnt on our trip to the Manitoba Museum. She did a traditional trading with us that involved trading our bison sketches for school supplies. She also helped with leading our drumming ceremony. - Devon, Xiomara, Dennis, Abby

It was fun being in this class room and best of all we had Ms. McAuley as our teacher! - Jocelyn

I improved a lot in math this year, it was a lot more fun than last year. - Kathleen

We are going to end our time with Ms. McAuley by having a bake sale, we have set a goal to raise $280 for the Children's Hospital and Dr. Goodbear from the Children's Hospital will also be here. - Hannah & Dennis

We love our teacher because she was always there for us and she was very cool and thoughtful. She did activities with us that no other teachers did! - Abby
